The history of Citizen began in 1918 in Tokyo, Japan, when the Shokosha Watch Research Institute was founded. In its early days, the company was mainly dedicated to manufacturing components for pocket watches. In 1924, Citizen launched its first pocket watch, marking the brand’s entry into the watch market. In 1982, it introduced the Citizen Professional Diver, a diving watch with a water resistance of 1300 meters, specially designed for professional divers. Additionally, Citizen was a pioneer in integrating radio synchronization and GPS technology, allowing some of its watches to adjust the time automatically based on the location, ensuring absolute precision regardless of the time zone.
