Longines watches have their origins in 1832 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, when Auguste Agassiz founded a watchmaking workshop with two other partners. This small workshop, known as Agassiz & Compagnie, began producing pocket watches, quickly establishing themselves in the Swiss market thanks to the quality and precision of their products.

Brand Establishment

In 1867, Longines constructed its first factory, named Les Longines (which means “the long meadows” in French), from where its name originated. That same year, they developed their first in-house movement, the calibre 20A, which won a medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition. This innovation allowed Longines to fully control its production, ensuring superior quality and solidifying its reputation as a prestigious brand.

Achievements and International Fame

Longines’ fame grew rapidly:

• In 1889, the brand trademarked its iconic winged hourglass logo, becoming the oldest watch brand with a registered logo still in use.
• In 1912, Longines pioneered the use of electromechanical devices for sporting event timing, establishing its reputation in precision timing and becoming the official timekeeper for numerous international sporting events.

Innovation and Luxury Watchmaking

Over the years, Longines has continued to innovate, launching iconic collections such as the Longines Master Collection and the HydroConquest, which combine Swiss precision with elegant designs. Additionally, they have continued to develop advanced technologies, staying at the forefront of haute horology and standing out for their focus on elegance and functionality.
