These watches were designed to offer the typical Swiss quality at a more accessible price, making them popular among those who desired an elegant chronograph without the high cost associated with more exclusive brands.

Production and features

The highlight of the Chronographe Suisse was its lightweight design and extremely thin case, commonly referred to as “onion skin” due to its delicacy. Many of these watches featured complications such as tachymetric and telemetric scales, allowing for speed and distance measurements. The dials had a clean and functional design, available in various colors, while the movements were supplied by renowned manufacturers like Valjoux, Landeron, and Venus. These pieces ensured reliable precision and were carefully assembled, despite being considered more affordable options.

Expansion and decline

However, with the arrival of the quartz revolution in the 1970s, the demand for mechanical watches drastically decreased.
