Omega watches had their origins in 1848 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, when Louis Brandt, a young watchmaker, established a small workshop. In the beginning, Brandt assembled pocket watches using components from local suppliers and distributed his creations mainly in European markets. After his death, his sons, Louis-Paul and César Brandt, took over the business and drove significant advances in watchmaking.
Birth of the Omega brand
In 1894, the Brandt brothers introduced a production system with interchangeable parts, a groundbreaking innovation for the time. They developed the movement known as the Omega caliber, which became so popular that in 1903, they decided to rename the company Omega Watch Co. From then on, the Omega brand became synonymous with precision and high quality.
Achievements and global recognition
Omega quickly achieved international status thanks to milestones such as:
- In 1932, it became the first brand to be named the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games, a role it has played in multiple editions of the event.
- In 1969, the Omega Speedmaster made history by becoming the first watch to reach the Moon, worn by the astronauts of the Apollo 11 mission. This achievement gave it unparalleled prestige and a prominent place in the history of space exploration.
Innovation and luxury watchmaking
Throughout its history, Omega has maintained an innovative spirit, developing technologies such as the Co-Axial movement in 1999, which improved precision and reduced maintenance needs. Its most iconic collections, such as the Speedmaster, Seamaster, and Constellation, have strengthened its position in the world of luxury watchmaking.
Today, Omega is one of the most recognized and respected watch brands globally, known for its precision, quality, and enduring historical legacy.
