The Hamilton company was established in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania (USA). Initially, it specialized in creating highly accurate watches, a key attribute for synchronizing railway schedules in an era where these devices were essential to prevent accidents and ensure efficiency in transportation. Its first pocket models, known as the “Railway Accuracy Watch,” were widely adopted by American train networks, cementing its reputation in technical precision.

Growth in the aviation industry

Later, Hamilton diversified its focus towards aviation. During the 1930s, it positioned itself as the official supplier of time instruments for leading airlines in the United States. Its chronometers for pilots stood out for their robustness and functionality in extreme conditions. When the Second World War broke out, the brand ceased the production of civilian models to focus exclusively on supplying military watches, delivering over one million units to US troops.
